Thank you to Mrs. Rinker and our preschool buddies for showing us a preview of their Christmas performance! We had so much fun today! Today’s Flashlight Friday was great! We dropped everything to read. Mrs. Treusch put on instrumental Christmas music with a video of a crackling fire...very festive and relaxing while we read!

The 6th graders are working hard on their solar system models. We did the calculations together about distances between the Sun and each planet. Now, each group is coming up with their own representation! Each model will look different but will still showcase the distances within the solar system. I can’t wait to see everyone’s finished product! 8th graders (or parents or siblings of 8th graders), Take a look at the YouTube video below about balancing chemical equations. We've been discussing this in class and doing lots of practice, and this video gives us a good visual of what is going on when we have to determine if chemical equations are balanced or unbalanced.
We usually do the math on paper or in our heads, but sometimes we need to see it in picture form too to help us remember! We will be watching this video in class as well, but feel free to share and watch together! From, Mrs. Treusch First Question: We talked about Bastille Day in Social Studies class!
Second Question: We know about Saint Francis! This evening, I was browsing around online and came across these awesome Science shirt designs! Take a look below: These would make cool gifts. I’m thinking of getting Mr. Treusch the “Dress for the Job You Want” astronaut shirt for Christmas (but don’t tell him!) because he loves all things space exploration!
Tonight’s Teen Tournament on Jeopardy included a question about Spain, which is one of the latest countries we discussed in Social Studies class. The category was about silent “g”s. That means the answer will contain the letter “g” that will be silent when it is said aloud. Can you figure out the answer? Look at the picture below for the question. 6th graders should know this if they look in their Cornell notes or reread our section about Spain and Portugal.
(The answer is “reign.”) Mrs. Treusch is back from Pennsylvania! Congratulations to the two students who successfully guessed where Mr. and Mrs. Treusch were going for their anniversary trip!
