Thank you to Mrs. Qualls for being a guest reader today to celebrate Reading Month!
Mrs. Qualls read chapter 16 from our Hatchet book. and brought up some connections she had with parts of the chapter. That's something the 6th graders have been working on...making personal connections and relating our experiences with experiences that the main character is going through. Thank you to everyone who has donated toothpaste for our Blessing Bags so far! Our class goal is to have each student bring in at least 3 tubes of toothpaste.
We are almost there! We currently have 39 tubes of toothpaste! The school's goal is to make 55 Blessing Bags. That means we need 16 more tubes to go! If anyone who hasn't brought in toothpaste could do so, that would be great. If you have already donated but would like to donate another tube, that would be wonderful as well! Thank you so much for helping those in need! If anyone would like to donate some tape to our classroom, it would be greatly appreciated.
The 6th graders used the rest of it in Art class. Before Mrs. Treusch goes to buy more, if anyone would like to donate some rolls, please let her know! Thank you in advance! The 6th graders got to look at and touch some rock samples and had to decide which type of rock (metamorphic, igneous, or sedimentary) they were. Students had to draw and color picture of the rocks and describe them using adjectives. When everyone was done, Mrs. Treusch revealed the rocks' identities. We will be making books out of the completed pages, so be on the lookout for that; they will be coming home when they are bound!
