Is it Shem?
No.
Is it Japheth?
No.
The answer is Ham.
The “flood guy” is Noah, so the question is about one of his sons...”the one who makes me hungry.” Any idea?! We talked about this before one of our Mass days a while back.
Is it Shem? No. Is it Japheth? No. The answer is Ham.

We have been wanting to do our annual trip to Custard Corner for a while, but weather has not been the best. Weather permitting, we will be going tomorrow (Thursday, May 23).
Please sign the pink permission slip that is going home with your student today, and have them bring it to Mrs. Treusch tomorrow. We are planning on going after lunch tomorrow around 1:10 pm. There is no cost, as we are using funds from the "party money" fund everyone paid at the start of the year. We just need permission allowing your student to walk off school grounds to Custard Corner, a couple of blocks away. Thank you! Students were given a half-sheet of paper explaining an update on our Mud Hens field trip. This update is about food.
No longer are students, chaperones, and teachers allowed to bring in their own food unless they are allergic to all the food provided at the game. If your student cannot have any of the food listed on the half-sheet of paper as options, a doctors note will be needed for the game so your student can bring in outside food. Everyone else will get a voucher for a hot dog and chips. If someone would like to buy something else, they are welcome to bring money, as long as they go with their group (including the chaperone!) to go buy more food. Students MUST stay with their chaperone in order to go anywhere at the field trip. This includes to go get food. Below are a few examples of updated and modernized fairy tales that the 6th graders came up with. Very creative work! We were inspired by the "Love Your Neighbor" banner we've seen online from All Souls Episcopal Church in Washington DC (www.allsoulsdc.org/neighbor). Take a look at the original and take a look at our versions. We came up with a list of things that our neighbors may do differently than us, and we wrote them and drew corresponding graphics/pictures. We made multiple banners to put in the upstairs hallway of our school. Feel free to take a look in person sometime!
We had a safety meeting for all students in grades 5 through 8 to go over proper procedures for after-school safety jobs. Esosa helped demonstrate the correct way to walk someone (Mrs. Darin) across the street.
In Literature class, we've been rewriting classic tales to make them more modern. To show them an example, we read "The Emperor's New Clothes" and then read a modernized version about the King ordering clothes from an online website and being too proud to return them, even though they looked like flowery drapes.
Feel free to read some of the more modern stories and look at the accompanying pictures: www.gocompare.com/broadband/once-upon-the-internet/ Today, we helped set up part of the decorations on the walls of the Gym for the carnival, which is tomorrow (Friday). We got to design a "level" that looks like the Mario video game screen!
Take a look at our finished product, below. The first picture is of a "serious" picture and the second is a "silly" picture. We had lots of fun! We can't wait for the carnival! We hope to see you there! |
