Each group presented their models in Science class today. The goal of this project was to show the distances between each planet and the Sun (as opposed to the sizes of the planets). We compared and contrasted the inner planets and the outer planets. As you can see from the pictures, the inner planets are much closer to each other than the outer planets are. There is a big difference in distances! Students had fun using math (scale, scientific notation, multiplication and division, measuring) along with science throughout this time!
In Social Studies class, we have been learning about different types of economic systems, including the traditional economy, in which people barter and trade for what they want and need.
We participated in a trading game. Each student needed to bring in 2 items that they wouldn’t mind trading and not getting back. We let the items sit in Mrs. Treusch’s classroom for a few days (as to not spread germs). Then we had 3 rounds of trading accompanied with rating our objects in terms of how much satisfaction they give us. Some students traded multiple times in each round. Some students didn’t trade at all because they couldn’t make a deal or because they liked their objects too much. After the trading game, we quarantined our items and washed our hands to keep ourselves safe and healthy. We had a great time in Social Studies today! |
