If you saw a reporter around our school campus, he was interviewing teachers as well as students and parents for a news article for the Detroit Catholic. He also took some pictures. Click here to read the article!

Every Friday, we practice our reading stamina and relax with a good book! Students read their own or borrow one from the class library. We turn the lights out, and students read with flashlights. It helps us unwind at the end of our week, and it is something fun for us to do while we focus on an element of literature, such as plot and setting.
Feel free to try this at home! Today in Social Studies class, we learned about different types of maps, what they look like, the elements of each, and what they’re each used for. For example, we learned the differences between a political map and a physical map.
Today we went to the Church so the new 6th graders could see where our seats are and which way we go up for Communion. Above is a picture of the classmates who are not in Choir. Choir students have a different spot to sit in.
We also had a school assembly today with Mrs. Thomas, who emphasized safety around the school. No student will be allowed to open the outside door for anyone, even if it’s someone they know. We also talked about safety at recess, at school pick up, at lunch, and respect in general. Feel free to ask your student about the assembly! Students with planners have this schedule taped to the inside of their planner. It is bright yellow, so it's hard to miss. Here is an electronic copy as well: If your student would like to study this list or have an electronic copy of it for home, feel free to take a look at their practice spelling words below. They will have a practice tic-tac-toe assignment with these words, but it will only count as a participation grade. It will be due on Friday. More information will be given to students in class. Feel free to ask them about it! Thank you to everyone who stopped by and met me at the "Meet the Teacher" night on Thursday! For those of you who couldn't make it, please take a look at the packet I handed out for 6th grade. Please email me with any questions or concerns you may have. |
